Nate Thompson and I went to SXSW in March of 2009. We brought a video camera. The result was some 100-odd video clips pumped straight to YouTube.

    Why?

Well, I am of the school of thought that whenever people take footage of conferences, they leave out the parts that really matter — you know — the walking for hours on end, the being hopelessly lost, the size of the rooms and all the travel fun inbetween. The story is only partially told through the scripted events, what I think is really fascinating is all the unscripted bits.

Considering this is probably the most video I have ever shot in my entire life, I think it turned out really well. So well, in fact, that I think I might carry my camera around and film events obnoxiously for at least the next few months.

Watch the first “webisode” and click through to the channel to see the rest.

6/1/09 – The SXSW story might be becoming a book, stay tuned.

Not much to say about 93 Deeds at this one at this juncture except for the following: it’s taking a whole lot of time to do, I think it’s extraordinarily interesting, and it fits into my belief that the web should be a platform for people to actually do things not just talk about them.

5/7/09 – 93 Deeds has gone through about 8 different iterations so far, I think we might be circling around the correct one now. Time to write some copy and see what falls out of it.

6/1/09 – Getting back into the groove and starting to really put down some content for the 93Deeds book.
