Blog Action Day 2008 Poverty from Blog Action Day on Vimeo.

Blog Action Day is a yearly blogging event that seeks to raise awareness about a topic by focusing a days worth of blogging effort on it. Last year, they tackled the environment and this year they have poverty in their sights.

Blog Action

Poverty is a big issue, far bigger than any single day of blogging but that doesn’t mean there isn’t a lot you can do to help out. One concrete way to help is by participating in the fundraising drive. Participating content producers are asked to donate one days worth of advertising income to benefit a charitable organization. The few dollars you would be forking over might not seem like a lot, but that’s the beauty of ideas like this — they rely on small actions by huge numbers of people. Given large enough numbers, real change can happen.

Of course, anything you can do to publicize this event would also be an enormous help. If you are already sold, you can sign up here. The event is being help on October 15th, so mark your calendars.
