A newsweek article touches on a classic issue among web workers, whether user generated content is “fair”. The idea is that if you are spending hundreds of hours generating content that is then sold commercially, doesn't it seem fair that you should get some piece of the profits?

Some of the examples that they bring up are the old standbys, YouTube and Wikipedia, as well as a few new additions — LittleBigPlanet and Spore.

My question to you, at what point does a fan cross the line into content producer and when he or she does what should be the reward?
