Bottom Line: Basing their rankings on just about the least useful metrics ever (Technorati Authority and Alexa score among them), BurrellesLuce releases its listing of top Media outlets. Facebook and MySpace top the Social Network rankings, USA Today and The Wallstreet Journal were at the head of the pack for Newspapers, the Cacus (A NYTimes blog) and the Daily Dish (by Andrew Sullivan) entered the list of top blogs.

Following Facebook, MySpace, and Hi5 on the list of top social networks were Flickr, Skyrock, Friendster, Tagged, LiveJournal, Orkut, and Fotolog. Two of the most buzzed-about networks among members of the PR community, LinkedIn and Twitter, ranked 15th and 23rd, respectively. The 2009 edition of the BurrellesLuce report marks the debut of the social network rankings.

Two titles entered the top echelon in the latest blog rankings. Official Google Blog (9) and Smashing Magazine (10) displaced I Can Has Cheezburger (which dropped to Number 13 from Number 8 ) and Mashable! The Social Networking Blog (which went from Number 9 to Number 11). Rounding out the top five behind the first-place Huffington Post were Gizmodo, TechCrunch, Engadget, and Ars-Technia (CA), a former seventh-place finisher that dropped Boing Boing to sixth.
