Bottom Line A survey conducted by the Sheraton chain of hotels has found that 87% of professionals bring their PDAs into the bedroom with them and 1/3rd of the professionals surveyed would pick those PDAs over their spouses. I am not 100% what that last part means but it says a lot about how hyper-connected we are becoming as a society.

Here are a few more gems to think about the next time you wake up in the middle of the night to check your Blackberry –

• 85% say they sneak a peak at their PDA in the middle of the night
• 80% say they check their email before morning coffee.
• 85% say that PDA’s and cell phones allow them to spend more time out of the office
• 79% feel they can be just as productive outside of the office as opposed to inside.
• 77% say their PDA helps them enjoy life more and 62% love their PDA.

The news isn’t all bad, while it does seem like we have permanent lifelines to the office, being hyper-connected also gives us more opportunity to work outside of the office, which in turns gives us more time with our loved ones. Even if some of that time is spent buried in email.
