Really GREAT post. Nice starting guide for entrepreneurs. Another thing that's key is building your contact network. Join an association, talk to other people in your industry, go to a few conventions to meet competitors and potential customers. Basically= GET OUT THERE and start promoting your business!

Wow, excellent post. I especially like how you organized all this content in the real life core needs for startups!

Looking back on my own company's launch back in 1996, I wish I had hired an HR consultant to handle all my HR fun. I had a CPA for annual taxes, but should have farmed out all finances, Sales Tax (which is hideous in Calif), Qtrly Taxes, and Fed/State taxes (augh!) - these items seriously *drained* me of all creativity! huge time sinks too... yuck!! If only I had known then, what I know now by painful experience!

P.S. I'd add an entire section devoted to working "MOBILE" as startups will find that they have to work extremely well in both mobile and virtual settings. Mobile tools are a must!

Wow! This is an incredibly comprehensive resource that answers all the right questions. So often new entrepreneurs ask, “what do I..,” “where do I find..” and “how do I…” questions. Now I know where to send them to get all of the who, what, why, how questions answered. Incredible!

I'm not totally in the target market (what they help with is primarily invoicing for small businesses). But, I've read lots of good things and they're generally great guys (a startup themselves).
