Journal

Today’s journal comes from Josh Owens of Transpondr.

This week proved to be very interesting indeed. We use Transpondr to track our own podcast and it has been working great on an old code base, for about a year or so. I decided to push out a new episode of our podcast (The web 2.0 show) and something went wrong. Transpondr wasn’t passing you to the file like it should.

After about 20 minutes of debugging and not finding an issue in the old code base, I figured it was easier to move forward with the new code base we have been working on for the last month or two.

We ended up getting everything up and working again (prior to boarding the plane even!) but we learned a few things: Be prepared, test your code base as extensively as you can, and make sure you have some kind of monitoring in place to alert you.
