Aging

You might remember a few months back when we did the Startup Reactor program. It was where we followed 5 startups through a typical month of operations, and had them blog about their experience. After some initial hiccups, it ended up becoming one of the most fun programs I have had a chance to head up, so it is with great pleasure I introduce you to Mark Hager who will be joining us for a brand new session of the Reactor.

There will be some changes in how we run things, which I will let you in on in the coming days but to start things off, let’s hear a little about Mark’s company — Age In Place.

AgeInPlace is a resource to help Baby Boomers and seniors live in their homes as long as they can as they age. With 78 million Baby Boomers in America, the impact they will have on our communities, social service organizations and the economy cannot be calculated at this point; but it could be devastating without the proper preparation. Our goal is to help minimize the impact they will have on society by helping them build their own aging plan and ensure their quality of life.

AgeInPlace.com is taking the ‘responsible citizen’ approach to the problem. We are providing relevant content and educational resources about the age in place concept, while connecting consumers with professionals who can assist them. We’re building relationships with national service and professional organizations, crafting need specific tools and educational material, and encouraging older consumers to take control of their future.

As a highly-focused niche site, AgeInPlace.com will garner income through sources such as advertising and sponsorship, sales through joint venture educational endeavors and sponsorships for national consumer education tools.

So what do you think? Do you see a market for an idea like this? If so, what do you think he could do to maximize his chances of success?
