Once a week, as a part of Startup Reactor, Mark Hager will provide us with a working journal of what life has been like working on his startup, Age In Place. All feedback is greatly appreciated.

Happy New Year (late) to everyone! We hit the ground running as the year started and have some great updates.

We’ve started work on the goals we set for the new year. The first fruits of that labor was a quiet roll-out of a new section (“What is Aging in Place”) that will become the foundation of our efforts in 2009. The new section will be the door for people to walk through to begin helping them build their own plan for their future. Work is also under way for the various sections (parts of “the plan”), with the first being released in the next two weeks which will house the Internet’s largest collection of home modification ideas.

We’ve made some great new contacts on Twitter already this year. The most exciting news on that front is that we are in talks with another website on how we can work together. Even though they are young, they have met a lot of success to date. More to come on that. Also, two contacts we’ve made on Twitter in particular we hope will become resources for us (regular contributors and, possibly, advisers).

Along those same lines, we’ve also restructured a little bit. One of the partners is going to be focused on relationship building and securing industry talent for the site. I think this effort will begin paying off by the end of January.

Finally, we’ve had some people inquire about advertising in the last few weeks. One potential advertiser flat out asked if we would sell the site and domain name to him. That confirmed for us we’re heading in the right direction.

All-in-all, the year is already starting to shape up. We’re looking forward to the next few months as we begin rolling out content and new features that will really get the attention of people in the space.

Until next week …
