Once a week, as a part of Startup Reactor, Mark Hager will provide us with a working journal of what life has been like working on his startup, Age In Place. All feedback is greatly appreciated.

The big news this week is that our strategic partnership agreement went south. Sad? Perhaps a little. We worked very hard to craft a fair agreement that would protect the interests of everyone involved. It wasn’t enough, though. After yet another round of negotiations, we called it off. It just wasn’t shaping up as we’d hoped. We’ll have to chalk it up to a learning experience.

We’ve actually taken this time to step back and have a look at how well we’re fulfilling what we started out to do. We emerged from the process with a few bits of wisdom (most of which is good startup advice you’ve probably read on How to Split an Atom); we just went simple and broken down into the “why”, “what” and “how” questions every business person should continually ask themselves.

This gave us a little unction to move forward more focused than ever.

We were able to secure two professionals to write articles for us this past week. The first will be highlighted in our semi-regular newsletter which will go out in a few days, as well as posted on the site. The second has already submitted an article which is under review to be published soon.

Our Twitter efforts have been paying off. We’ve put a little more effort into spreading news from other Twitterers that’s relevant, using Ping.fm to do status updates and point people to interesting articles on other websites, sending @replies and actively looking for ways to offer help to our fellow Twittizens. We’ve moved from the “we follow the reciprocate” model to people following us first.

Until next week…
