Excellent points Steve, and I can vouche for everything in this post. Starting my own WordPress powered blog in May, I've seen nothing but growth for each month since I started. I got lucky on one particular article and a few others and those have indeed given me momentum. The search engine traffic is always trickling in and I think as long as I keep the train moving, people will want to hop on.

Increasing those RSS Subscriber numbers though have proven to be difficult. Although 150 is a nice number as it's better than 0

You know, my site has been around for exactly a month (hurrah!) and we've got pretty good search engine position. The problem we're finding is that we're in such a small niche *travel* that even the masters of our domain have a small readership. How do we expand that?

Thanks! I'd never considered doing a blog before, and am a bit shy about making it known, but your comments make it well worth while.

I'll definitely look around for another theme that works better.

Just off the top of my head I would say that you should change your theme. In my browser there is a lot of really strange overlapping of images and content elements. Usually you only get a few seconds to impress so these little things count for a lot.

Secondly, I understand why you have the about section up front, but for a casual reader I really don't want to have to click through to see the meat of your blog.

Otherwise I love your idea, it's a wonderful blog.

Thanks for writing this article. I'm not sure if I want to have lots of traffic -- haven't submitted to any sites or anything. My blog is a story with a message -- that each of us are responsible for our own health, and if we abdicate that responsibility to someone else (like doctors), then the damage created is only our own fault. It will be published when it's completed.

On the other hand, I've also posted my husband's amazing paintings which I think, in my most generous moments, should be shared with the world.

I noticed that you posted to someone else on the subject of their blog -- could you look at mine?
