The source is the Taipei Time. It has been cited several times (though that doesn't imply accuracy). As unbelievable as it might sound, it doesn't seem completely illogical. Information is a powerful weapon, and when it is so easy to install this kind of malware I have a hard time imagining why it isn't done more often.

Does this story any other sources? I find this story impossible to believe.

I know when I want to upload a large file, it takes forever, and it hogs processor and bandwidth so much that I try and only do it at night. I'm a photographer, so this is a frequent occurrence.

I think that if I had a new 500 GB hard drive, and when i started putting photos on it it started sending them anywhere, it would be pretty obvious. And I don't even have any firewalls or network monitoring.
