The art of marketing is what really drives consumer behavior is where the value is created in marketing.

"you guessed it, the product." Marketing can easily backfire if the product isn't quite ready or if it doesn't live up to the hype. Too right, marketing can't solve more fundamental problems.

Well said. Good marketing/advertising can definitely get eyes to the product or service. Promising to satisfy a need or desire and creating an expectation of success will, at best, make one sale. But only product satisfaction (fulfillment of the promise) will lead to repeat sales -- here is where consumer feedback is essential.

I think you've hit the nail on the head here! In the Bed and Breakfast industry, there are those with 4-star accommodation who are very able to put their best foot forward with noproblem. However, they are competing with some properties that are not fit for habitation, much less being offered to tourists. Making a clear visual statement about the quality of the home is a great way to 'let a product sell itself'. Perhaps we need to use more photos on our site to show potential customers the high quality they would be receiving.

[...] Steve Spalding put up a good read today. Here’s a quick excerpt:We like to convince ourselves that no matter how great an idea is, unless we have a hand in pushing it down the consumer’s throat, no one will care. But let’s face it, if you were selling the cure to Cancer, it wouldn’t matter if you … [...]
