I’ve got a story to tell but I am too caught up in it now to tell it accurately. It’s that whole forest and trees analog. I would be accurate in saying that it’s a story about the American Dream, but that is a far too limited way of looking at it. More correctly, it’s a story about dreams, inspiration, action and swimming above the tide. It’s a story about entrepreneurship and why we play the games that we do.
Let me start from the beginning.
For the last few months I’ve been working on a project, let’s call it Cultura because well, that’s what it’s called. It started off as a kernel of inspiration — the premise — use the web to help turn dreamers into doers. To state that more concretely, we wanted to find a way to help anyone with an idea and the drive to develop it to create their dreams.
The project grew from there.
What does Cultura do? Well, two things –
We design processes, which is a fancy way of saying that we solve problems, specifically problems that involve the web. We are actively seeking smart, capable and driven entrepreneurs that find themselves hitting walls; whether it’s technical, financial, organizational or sociological. If it’s smooth sailing, you probably don’t need us but if you’re waking up wondering how you will ever make your dreams real, that’s where we fit in.
To be honest, this is the part of the project that sold me. The reason I write this blog and wander the highways and byways of the web is because I am deeply interested in seeing creative people reach their potential. I am not only talking about traditional “web startup” entrepreneurs (whatever that means); whether your are a musician, videographer, coder or designer as long as you are looking to build something unique, I want to help you get there and Cultura is the vehicle that lets me do that and still call it work.
Where’s the catch? It’s coming up so hang tight.
The second part of what we do is build services, products, ideas and sundry. Some of these we charge for (yes, money) and for good reason, they cost us money to operate. The rub is that we charge much less than most people would (we’ve checked) and honestly, even if you never touched one of these services you’d still have a place in our family. Right now, we’re mostly building products to help web entrepreneurs — things like this and this and this but the future is limitless, and I highly suggest dropping me a line if you want to see anything in particular built.
So, where’s my pitch? Here it is.
All I want from you is to start paying attention to where this project goes. Take a look at the blog, follow us on Twitter, stare longingly as we finish putting together the site, and join us on Ning. What we are building here is a community for people with ideas, a place to bring together all of the most ambitious, hard working and creative people on the web under one roof. What will come of it from there, I couldn’t tell you — like I said earlier, I’m too stuck in the trees to see that far ahead.
Then again, if I am going to be lost in a project — I couldn’t have better company.
