Today we get over the first big hump you’ll face on the way to transforming your idea into reality, the theory that no one wants to hear about your creation.
90% of the content on the web is created by 1% of the users because the rest believe that they have nothing interesting to say and are terrified that if they try, they’ll expose the fact that they really aren’t that interesting.
Today I want to transform you from a content consumer, to a content creator.
So what’s the challenge. Find something on the web that you feel strongly about — a blog post, a site, a cause — when you find it, push it out across your entire network. Tweet about it, post it to Facebook, write a blog post and submit it to Digg. If there is a place you can share it, share it.
Next comes the important part, take the next few hours and come back to see how people respond — if they responded at all. Did it get voted on? Did it get shared? Are there comments on it, if so by who? Get a feeling for who was interested, who wasn’t and try to find out why.
The only secret to putting out content on the web is to gain an intuition as to where to put it. The only way to nurture that intuition is through practice.
