In case you have been unable to spend the last 48 hours or so in line waiting for the iPhone to come out I am quite disappointed in you.
If you were in front of an Apple store right now, you could cast your lot with the hundreds of thousands of people who are also waiting, and have the infinitesimally small chance of getting the almost certainly buggy, expensive, sub-optimal first version of the product.
For those who have legitimate excuses like work, or you know, “something better to do.” I have decided to provide you with up to date coverage of the iPhone line ride. Enjoy.
Rocketboom gives us some editorial commentary on what it is like to wait around for a product that will likely be the next most important thing since the invention of hyperbole.
I am not sure what hits a person to make them want to be a professional “line sitter,” but here is the man, the myth, the legend himself Greg Packer (who has playfully been dubbed the iLoser). If nothing else, sitting around in downtown New York for closing in on 5 days take a certain amount of commitment. Hopefully he turns a pretty penny selling his new tech toy on eBay.
If not, he can always write a book.
If you don’t feel quite close enough to the action, I have one more for you. Zooomr TV is streaming live from in front of the Apple Store in New York. If there is one thing better than actually waiting in line for an iPhone, it’s gawking at others who are doing the same thing.
