Pownce is Kevin Rose’s new, incredibly slick event management and social networking tool. This is what he has been working on in his free time when Digg gets him down. In short, it allows you to create events and send links, messages and files to your social network.

As neat as this sounds the one question that I know is on the tip of your proverbial tongues is — what does this have to do with the iPhone?

iPhone is Among Us

Pownce

Well, everyone worth their wide screen monitor knows that everything, by its nature, flows back into the iPhone. For instance, Vista was created as a preamble to the device, giving Apple yet another vector to create beautiful iPhone themes for Windows.

I hear that the rise of social bookmarking was actually a harbinger to the iPhone. Like the great runners of Sparta, it gave the public an easy way to keep up on iPhone news as quickly as Steve Jobs deaned that it should be made available to his public.

The character that is Steve Jobs is, in fact, merely an avatar to the iPhone. Or as my more metaphysically oriented readers will understand, Steve is its physical incarnation and mouthpiece on Earth.

That being said, I should return to Pownce. Or should I say the iPhone Event Management Interface.

Pownce’s Features

Lets say you were planning your iPhone Day Extravaganza. Obviously, the first thing you would want to do is invite everyone you know. At least all those who the iPhone deems worthy of your time. Pownce makes it easy for you to create the event and send it out to all of your friends. As easy, in fact, as sending an email.

As a part of the multimedia blitz, you have created a 3D mock up of the iPhone etched over a model of the United Nations to show how the iPhone will be single-handedly responsible for bringing the world’s governments together and will be the springboard on which world peace is finally achieved. OK, just to ensure that all of these messages are clearly (and subliminally) placed into the model, you want to share it with your friends. Pownce lets you do that, just add the model to your account and all your friends all be able to see your handy work.

Web 2.0 Roundup

All of the basic functionality Pownce is free (so the iPhone wishes it) and a Pro account will get you everything the free account does without the ads and with more storage capacity for files. Pownce looks like a really interesting diversion for the Twitter generation, so get out there and support the iPhone (and Pownce) today!
