There is something to be said about using the internet to right a wrong. Sometimes, it is the only platform where the ‘little guy’ can be heard by the masses.

Contrarily, there is something to be said about using the internet to bolster your own smug sense of self-importance. Ryan Singel of 27B Stroke 6 makes that point in his article about Jason Fortuny, the network admin who thought it would be fun to give himself an online gender change on Craigslist and solicit the web for some kinky sex.

Needless to say, many men responded. Many of these men left personal information, explicit pictures, email address’, cell phone numbers and other painfully private pieces of information. Not content with keeping his little joke to himself, Jason posted all of this information on the web.

Last time I checked, regardless of how you might feel about answering online personal ads, posting private information about people obtained under false pretenses is not only in bad taste, but is also potentially illegal.

Hopefully, a few of his victims will realize that fact. Then, they can play a little joke on Jason, the kind that involves a court date and a couple grand in legal fees.

[No, I am not condoning the 'victims' rather obvious lack of judgement. I am deriding a more general invasion of privacy by someone who is helping to damage the lives of others for no reason other than a laugh.]
