Every time I visit a new site on the web the author’s purpose, whether stated or implied, is to find a way to turn content into a quick buck. Now, I am not in any way against this, but I have grown so used to the idea that it seems almost ludicrous that a site would be created for any other reason.

Mark Hager’s, “Happy Posts” proves me wrong.

Based on the Ning social networking platform, this site’s purpose is to give readers a platform where they can share uplifting stories, things that have helped them, and tales that will give you the warm fuzzies.

Happy Posts

What is Ning? Ning is a free platform that allows you to roll your own social network. Pick your passion, fill in a few fields and next thing you know you have a fully functioning social space to discuss everything from Bon Jovi albums to, in this case, uplifting stories.

Content

I think Mark said it best when describing the content of Happy Posts, “With so much negativity in our lives, I wanted to create a place where people could come and ‘recharge’; get a little hope, inspiration or just a friend.” From what I have seen, Happy Posts accomplishes just that.

The site is not only text, but it also hosts photos and videos that managed to put a smile on even your favorite, jaded tech writer’s face. While the site itself is not a technological triumph, the content is a brilliant expression of what the net can be if someone puts his mind to it.

Web 2.0 Roundup

If you woke up on the wrong side of the bed, or just want something to pull you out of the doldrums of another work day check out Happy Posts. Innovation through content is occasionally the best kind there is.
