The interweb runs on trends. Like most sources of news and information, when the net latches onto something it does so with a vengence. Lately, identity theft seems to be the soup de jour.
Recently, a Department of Transportation laptop containing personal data of about 133,000 Floridians was stolen out of the back of an employee’s SUV. This is just another entrant in the laundry list of compromised personal data that includes such agencies as the departments of Agriculture, Energy, the Navy and IRS.
This comes only weeks after the debacle at the VA and only days after the teens who are allegedly responsible for the theft were arrested.
Between government data being compromised and private sector dropping the privacy ball it makes you wonder who you can really trust with your information.
