I just finished trying out the blogosphere’s new darling, InviteShare.
The premise behind invite share is to act as a social hub for requesting and sending invitations to BETAs. Everyone knows that whether it is Pownce, Joost, or Grooveshark sometimes it’s difficult to find anyone who can get you into the BETA. As bloggers we try to help, offering the invites that we can, but more often than not it amounts to searching the internet for hours hoping to find a friendly netizen that is willing to help you out.
InviteShare hopes to change that all.

I have to give the site’s author credit. The amount of time between domain registration and an initial appearance on TechCrunch was ten days (the site was registered on July 3rd). The way it works is that you go to the site and are presented with a list of BETAs. You can then either add yourself to the list of those requesting invites, or offer one of your invites to the hungry masses.
The major flaw with this system is that there is absolutely no integration between their interface and the invite systems themselves. That means you have to manually send the invitations and all InviteShare does is confirm with the recipient that they are no longer in line.
InviteShare is a prime example of a concept winning out over implementation. If people are hungry enough for something, they will go to great lengths to get it. In this case, InviteShare leverages the collective desires of everyone who has ever jumped through hoops for a BETA invitation. While the interface is buggy at best, and the site could do with a face lift, it provides value to the consumer which is something that it’s very difficult to recreate.
For anyone who needs them, I currently have a bunch of invitations to Spock or to Grooveshark. All you need to do is leave a comment and I’ll send them right now.
