Grooveshark

Lets face it, if you are reading my blog you probably hate DRM. Good, now that we have that clear, the vast majority probably “borrow” most of your music from the vast repository of low grade swag that is the internet. Honestly, most of you would probably pay, but Steve Jobs hasn’t given you a very good reason to yet.

Enter Grooveshark. First, they are out of Florida which is in itself a beautiful thing. Second, they are the first start-up that I have ever heard of that will actually pay you for sharing. That’s right, they are hard at work signing deals with major record labels in order to make sure that “everyone gets paid”.

You’re skeptical, I’m sure. Well, so am I. For the sake of my professional chops, I’ll admit that I know the guys who founded this thing pretty well, so in the back of my mind I am rooting for them. Even without taking that into consideration, they have a product that just feels rights. Look at Grooveshark as the unholy combination of Last.fm and Limewire. It’s a peer to peer social network, if that makes any sense.

Either way, if you do anything today check out Grooveshark’s article in Zeropaid and send them some Digg love from me.
