I am out of town this weekend, but I wanted to leave you a little gift. To keep with the weekend theme of speculation into the web’s future, here is a brief look into how others have thought the web would evolve, told through the magic of multimedia.

1993

AT&T and their “You Will” series of ads got a few things right, including GPS and teleconferencing. That’s the thing about speculating about the future, usually for every few misses you get one really substantial hit.

From 1994 With Love

This reminds me of a promotional video I once saw while in line for the Terminator 3D ride at Universal Studios. The future is now.

Kevin Rose

Finally, here is a more modern look at the future of the web. Kevin Rose in this video kind of reminds me of the guy on the huge monitor in 1984.

Web 2.0 Roundup

Here is a challenge for you, tell me what you think the biggest new development in the web will be? Where is the next big change coming from, and what technologies are going to lead us into the future?

If you enjoyed that why not find a job or read our guide to working in the 21st century. You can also join our Kiva team or hire me for your project.
