The people search engine Spock has launched today. The saddest thing about that is now by 400 some odd invites are going to go to waste. If you are unsure what Spock is, here is some of our previous coverage on the subject.

Spock

Spock

“Spock builds a composite person profile that is editable both by the profiled individual, and by web users. In order to achieve accuracy, users are invited to vote on the accuracy of tags and photographs of the person.”

“it’s a pretty neat little product. It definitely needs some work, a few quick searches will leave you wondering how a query for Sylvester Stallone led you to a page on Brittney Spears.”

“Yea, my problem with Spock has always been relevance. I have used Spock and I have no idea what I’m actually supposed to looking for.”

Web 2.0 Roundup

Good luck Spock, people search is a market that is still looking for its killer app. If you can tap into that, you’ll go far. To the readers, what are your thoughts on Spock? Have you had a chance to try it out and if so, what do you think they can do to squeeze the idea of people search for all that it’s worth.
