One more little piece to take us into the weekend. Allen Stern over at Center Networks makes several lucid points on how to improve twitter. If you are interested, you can see them here. I agree with most of his points, a few little things that I think he missed are enumerated below.

Notifications. I wanted to be notified if someone replies to me while I am signed out of the Web app. There are plenty of times that I forget to check the reply tab. Even if it wasn’t something like email, some kind of message would be appreciated.
Mutual Follows. I am really interested in knowing who I am following who is also following me. Right now, I have no way of parsing these people. This problem flows from a larger issue, namely…
Search. It doesn’t have to be robust, but if I am looking for someone in particular I would like to have a way of searching within the system. It seems ridiculous that a social app based on communicating with your “friends” would make it so difficult to find the ones that are already in the network.
Sorting. In general, organization is poor in Twitter. I really would like better ways of sorting through my friends. I am sure now that they are funded they will work on improving this, but they should certainly know that this is absolutely critical if they are going to scale.
I am sure there are a metric ton of other tiny tweaks for Twitter, but these are the biggest points. Allen goes over a few others that are worth considering, and you should really give it a look.
