Today’s entry in the, “Just too interesting not to post about” file comes from 27B Stroke 6. It seems that a brand new Wiki is about to go live. Now, in this web 2.0 world where everything seems to require either a tag cloud or user-editorials, this is about as interesting is that last video of the twelve year old singing to NSYNC.
Wikileaks is striving to be the web 2.0 version of The Smoking Gun (a personal favorite). They purport to have 1.1 Million leaked documents that they are ready to share with the world. Add in “untraceability”, anonymous submissions and the increasing familiarity of Wikipedia with the public at large and you have an idea that might hold some water.
Whether Wikileaks will be able to deliver on its strongly political goals and not degenerate into a warehouse for celebrity dish still needs to be seen.
