You may not completely buy into World’s Worst lists, but it is hard to deny they are fun to read, especially, when those World’s Worst have to do with Web 2.0 (and Dotbomb) startups. The great thing about the “new” web is that it takes all the unfounded business models and AAA (AJAX, Adense and Arrogance) style monetization schemes of the bubble and adds tag clouds.
PC World gives us a look of some of the finest examples of this trend, a few of my favorites are:
25. Rentmychest.com
Who wouldn’t want to advertise on former TechTV host, Chris Pirillo’s, chest?
19. WebVan
Apparantly, building an online grocery delivery network in an industry with traditionally razor-thin margins proved to be too much for this startup. Yet another page out of the Pets.com book of bad business practices.
14. BidForSurgery.com
eBay but for elective surgery. I don’t need to go much further than that.
The only thing I disagree with is the way they abuse the Dancing Baby, it is like an amazingly disturbing Lava Lamp, still as relevant today as it was at any other time in history. Right?
