FOSS is helping to empower the third world, which has, until recently, largely been forced to pirate software to meet their growing technological needs (not to say that piracy isn’t still rampant overseas).

This BBC documentary takes a look at FOSS and covers topics including Nicholas Negroponte‘s hundred dollar laptop project as well as a myriad of open source software products and how they are helping connect the developing world.

It also gives a really concise history of the open source movement in general, and is worth a look if only for that.
