Without much fanfare, AT&T has quietly positioned itself as one of the lowest priced broadband providers on the market. The story goes something like this. AT&T will be offering DSL broadband service for $10 a month. This is nearly half the price of its cheapest advertised plan.
This ten dollar plan is available to anyone in the 22 state coverage area that AT&T services to anyone who has never had AT&T or Bellsouth broadband.

This plan provide some fairly respectable speeds for its price, 768 kilobits per second down-stream and upload speeds of up to 128 kbps. This matches AT&Ts $20 dollar plan.
This all comes as a part of a concession made to the FCC last December to get its acquisition of Bellsouth approved.
On top of this extremely cheap broadband, AT&T will be offering DSL that does not require purchasing local phone services. Due to FCC regulations, this plan can cost no more than $19. With naked DSL on tap, soon you might be able to operate completely without a land-line using, services like Skype.
Don’t count on it, however. 768 kilobits, while useful for casual surfing, is a bit narrow for VoIP. Lets all thank to FCC for giving us some of the best DSL prices I have ever seen. Note, the plan is not mentioned on the DSL Plans section of the website, you have to click on “Term contract plans” to get the scoop.
