Communication

Bad communication in a startup can kill you as quickly as a terrible product.

Good communication is knowing when to stop speaking and start listening.

Bad communication is simply, “waiting for your turn to talk.”

Have meetings as much as you absolutely have to.

Only have meetings as much as you absolutely have to.

When setting goals, be as specific as the context allows.

When setting goals, don’t be so specific that you don’t leave room to adapt to changing conditions.

If there is a problem, get it out in the open quickly.

Things left unsaid tend to find their way out into the open anyway.

It’s far more useful to talk about how to solve difficulties . . .

Than to harp about how unmanageable they are.

When necessary you must be willing to stand up for your team.

But know when it’s necessary to let your team stand up for themselves.

A few words can speak volumes.
