Love him or hate him, Ray Kurzweil is an interesting character. For those of you who don’t know who he is, Ray is a futurist and lecturer who is most famous or his thoughts on The Singularity, the eminently geeky idea that technology is increasing at such a rate that we will eventually hit a Singularity (spurred on by artificial intelligence) in which the world will advance so quickly that in a matter of years it will be almost unrecognizable to the people who came before.
Imagine going from the Bronze Age to the Internet Age in a half-decade and you’ll get some small idea of how the Singularity might work. In this interview Ray answers a few questions about the future and gives some insight into the thinking of one of the most curious intellects of our time.
Everybody thinks about the future, but not everyone makes it their life’s work. Besides being an inventor and author, Ray Kurzweil is one of the world’s premier futurists and he’s the de facto frontman for The Singularity. Time Magazine recently interviewed the prophet of accelerating technology for their ‘10 Questions’ segment.
