If there is any constant in the life of an entrepreneur, it is that things will go wrong. Unfortunately for all of us, sometimes a week’s worth of “wrong” things manages to squeeze its way into a day or worse yet, an hour.
The question is, when this happens, how do you get through it? How do you keep efficient, effective and focused when the sky is falling on top of you?
I took a straw poll and this is what I came up with.
Learning To Deal
Brad Jashinsky - I think talking about it with coworkers and family is a great relief. Don’t dwell, just get it off your chest.
Ophelia Chong - I quit the office job and opened my open studio at home. Now I stare out at roses and a fountain when I need to relax.
Ted Murphy - I become more methodical and process oriented. I typically remain that way until back in my comfort zone and in control.
Lisaro Kusek - Practice breathing and detachment-anchor in present. Imagine worst case and know you would live through it. Focus on the positives.
“twot” - Put on Howard Stern and run 3 miles pretending to be running on the problems/heads/ideas and crushing them.
Justin - I put on my favorite music, take a deep breathe, and dig into the problem piece by piece. Or I just go for a walk outside.
Dan Grady - Stress at work: talk it out on the phone, long walk in the sun or rain, double-espresso, or really loud, driving music.
Lucretia Pruitt - My secret was thinking to myself, “20 yrs from now, will I even remember what made this day so crappy? No? then brush it off.”
Matthew Selznick - Take walks outside, laugh with co-workers, maintain perspective — work to live, not live to work.
Antonio Altamirano - Very loud music, a cup of percolated coffee, some twitter and ….mmm. oh yeah, a plan of action to get over the stressful part.
Charles Stepczyk - Silent screaming..
Jeff Flowers - I turn up my iPod music as loud as my ears can take it… and I just get in the zone as much as I can. Music helps!
Jim Duncan - I focus on the fact that stress or no stress, the job still needs to get done - and my job is to minimize my clients’ stress.
Leah Jones - 1. breathe.
How do you deal with stress?
