I always hated trying to distribute my paintings. Thinking of something to paint is hard enough, then you have to worry about how to get it out there!

As an artist who works who love working in print, and takes a long time producing work of any quality, Distrubuting your content is always the hard part.

Personaly I think the most difficult thing will be getting your content found. Unless you have got a strong brand your work can be easily buried or get lost in the cluttter of information which is on the net.

No doubt on the web's power for all artists (and the non-ones) to propel them and their work out and into the world and get seen. However, if this Cro-Magnon may weigh in (as an actor and painter), I still believe art done by hand the "old-fashioned" way -- with real oils, and ink, brushes and paper, and most importantly with "real time" and muscle cranking that press -- for the most part trumps anything digital. A big Caveman "Uga Chucka-Uga-Uga-Uga-Chuka" to Ms. Chong's method and to her amazing work.

I feel a sense of Déjà vu when looking at Ophelia’s work. It reminds me of the Dada movement back in the 20’s when the world was in turmoil. Dadaism came about as a response to the start of World War I the beginning of a world economical crisis a response to anti art as we knew it before the 20’s. This led to major changes in the art world. Like they say, history repeats itself; we seem to be in an identical situation in the new millennium, but did we learn anything? At least it is refreshing to know that had Ophelia had been alive in the 20’s she would have been amongst company of the masters like some of my favorites: Marcel Duchamp and the incomparable George Grosz. Perhaps Ophelia is leading the movement by using nostalgic methods of producing art and combing technology in order to adapt to what eventually will become part of web semantics.

Luis Orellana

It's so important not to lose touch with 'analog' mediums like letterpress. It's easy for designers to forget that posting images to the web can take in much more that what they conjure through graphics programs....much less losing these art forms due to neglect and ignorance.

Why degrade any attempt at creative excellence? Digital or not digital is just not a devisive issue for me. They each possess downsides... and each merits whatever energies they can attract.

So if it is good (given enough time) I'll probably love it. Ophelia's work is easy to love...

I agree with Ophelia. There's a lot to be said for the handmade that has gotten lost in our pixelated world of perfection. I'm a writer and though much of my writing happens on the computer screen, it usually begins with pen scratching words on paper. There's a visceral connection that happens when we are physically connected to our creations. We know our creations more deeply, how they'll hold up and what they mean to us, when we do things by hand - whether it's crocheting an afghan, writing a poem, or creating images.
