As usual, the media industry is contriving to shoot itself in the foot. Instead of thinking of new ways to work with the present and future media, it is focusing on how things were done in the past.

That's why I will continue to take advantage of their stupidity, which is what every thinking person does, anyway. The smart thrive, the stupid die.

Think this bill will newer pass? Well almost same bill already in use, get caught with joint no college for you, kill someone – its OK ….

Wow, really interesting article – I had no idea about that clause in the bill. Do you have any more recent information about this? Hey Stupid!
It would have been great IF you had included the ACT# Sxxxx, or HRxxxx, so that, were we enthusiastic to DO something about it, … we could have.
This, unfortunately, despite lots of verbiage, merely becomes one of those ” 'They' are doing something bad” rants, since there ISN'T ANY real reference to the actual bill!

I am not going to say that college students don't pirate music. What I am going to say is that this kind of heavy-handed legislation won't stop college students from pirating music.

It might, however, cause a few colleges to lose federal funding.

It might, however, cause a couple of extra RIAA lawsuits to get a boost.

It might, just might, stop a few people who probably wouldn't have pirated media anyway to think twice.

I did my Undergrad at a school that strongly enforces copyrights through a network sniffer. It's extremely effective at catching people using standard file sharing networks. I can't think of anyone who was serious about pirating software who was ever caught.

The point is that this sort of legislation, for all practical purposes, will do almost nothing to solve the real problem.

Thats such a LAME argument against these tactics… its one of the ONLY things that i agree with the riaa on… the government SHOULD do this… get off the consumers backs… we have comcast, blocking torrents and suspending accounts for using too much bandwidth on an unlimited account…. and focus on the hubs of the majority of this piracy… COLLEGE NETWORKS.
