To start Saturday off on the right foot, I’m giving you a gallery of my favorite sub-genre of science fiction — Steampunk. The idea is simple, it’s the future but for some reason technology is all wrapped in brass, over-complicated dials and a preponderance of clocks. It’s what the future would look like if Charles Dickens wrote it.

Other than being really neat to look at, this new crop of Steampunk products combines a strong aesthetic with enough functionality to make them viable, which is a great trend. Once technology becomes sufficiently advanced, the question no longer becomes how much horsepower you have under the hood but instead how you put it together.
