For anyone looking to avoid the rigors of pesky potholes, speed bumps, spike strips, high speed chases or the occasional high-intensity suburban fire-fight I have something for you.
Tweels are airless tires developed by Michelin. They are marketed as being immune to most typical blow-out scenarios. Unfortunately, they aren’t vibration resistant enough to be used at high speeds — they generate massive amounts of heat at highway speed, you’d literally be burning up the road. As of now they are only being used commercially in scooters and other low-speed applications.
In the future they hope to integrate this technology into everything from golf carts to SUVS.
