First lets confirm that Presently, Google’s answer to Powerpoint is not unsubstantiated rumor. Google confirms that this presentation software is in the product pipeline. Now, lets discuss whether the revolution will truly be televised.
I have a hard time believing that normal people will go from the surprisingly usable Powerpoint, to an online version that only has the fact that it’s online going for it. There is a certain amount of niche appeal for current Google Docs users, but honestly I think if Google is really serious about this space they need to do the following.
Then you would have a free, easy to use application with most of the features of Word, less cruft and Google branding. That is something that Linux users, Google power users, and the Open Office crowd can really get behind. It would also give Google their first real foothold on the desktop. Sounds like a winning combination if I’ve ever heard one.
