I am not going to rehash the old meme of Microsoft as an, “evil corporation bent on the assimilation and aggregation of all the world’s technology in order to further its goals of world domination a la Skynet.” No, if you want to read about that I suggest you look at this.

Instead, I will just describe Microsoft’s new entrant into the video delivery space, Silverlight. According to the official Silverlight page, Microsoft’s new plugin is a –

Silverlight is a cross-browser, cross-platform plug-in for delivering the next generation of media experiences and rich interactive applications (RIAs) for the Web.

What it comes down to, once you remove corpspeak, is Flash re-branded and re-factored by the Big M. Microsoft hopes to make its version of Flash more searchable and indexable than Adobe’s product — which, to be honest, would be a Web Developer’s dream.

Indexable Flash from Microsoft? Sure, why not. If this has whet your appetite, you may want to take a look and see the light.
