Lets get the shameless self promotion out of the way. This article is more or less a thinly veiled attempt to get you to vote for my articles on Technorati’s new “blurb engine”. OK, now that I have said that.
Technorati has recently released what might be the first interesting thing I have seen from the service in 8 months, they call it “WTF“. Before you ask, their version of this old internet abbreviation stands for “Where’s the Fire”. It takes the idea of tags, which Technorati does beautifully and tries to add context. For example, when I search for a hot topic like Myspace what I will see above the usual search results is a short, user generated, blurb on why it’s important.

In a world that is filling up with more and more obscure internet phrases, this system is a step in the right direction — adding an additional context point to the otherwise mindless slush pile of articles on the internet’s favorite subjects.
