Sometimes all of us want to feel special, and being a regular at a particularly hip restaurant is a good way to earn some social credit and show off to your obviously less cool friends. The Urban Monarch (found via Lifehacker) provides some tips on how we all can become a regular at our favorite eateries.
There is a lot of great stuff there, but it can be a bit more complex than is probably necessary. Of all of the tips, these are my favorites:
- Use your name and theirs. Hi [server], my name is [me]…
- Tip 20% on the total bill (tax, drinks, everything) and round up to the nearest dollar.
- Don’t make 8 pm reservations, a restaurant wants to seat at least two people during dinner hours.
- Say please when ordering. May i please have the…
- Save waitstaff unnecessary trips.
In short be polite, be courteous, be consistent and quite a few times you’ll see a noticeable increase in good will.
