“Anyone got an invite to ____?”

“Can anyone get me a invite to ___?”

” I have five invites left to ____!”

With your sweaty palms and nervous fingers you click on the link that will take you to that special invite only site, where only a few thousand are allowed in.

Sign Up Today!

You quickly type in your Screen Name, you are in early enough that you can get your name without adding “666″ behind it. Put in your password, click “I Agree” and you’re in. Wait, it says you have to wait for an email to confirm. “‘WHAT?!” You scream, knowing that “Steve-o-rooni” on twitter is already tweeting about the coolness of the beta. You click “Get Mail”, nothing yet. You did everything it asked you to do.

“What could be the PROBLEM?!”

Ding.

You’ve got mail. “Welcome Early Adopter”. You quickly click on the link and “YES!”, you’re golden. Now you begin to play around the site, but not before you tweet that you are now “testing this beta, and it looks really cool. Everyone should be on it!”

You sort of care, but you really don’t. It really just mimics your favorite site, which works really well now and has all your contacts and you really can’t be bothered to customize the background. And they keep emailing you asking you to fill out a survey. Don’t they know that you are busy?

Two Weeks Later

Your hands are sweaty from the excitement as you click on the link that will take you to that special invite only site…and pay no mind to the heaps on the side of the road as you speed down that Information Superhighway. You are on your way to an endless horizon.
