Welcome back to the new and improved How To Split An Atom. For months I have been meaning to give the blog a face-lift, but never got around to it. Sometimes you just need someone to give you a push in the right direction, and I recently got pushed off the bridge. I am tentatively “finished” with the overhaul, but all that means is that everything that I tried to break is still working.

It’s time for a little tour.

Layout

How To Split An Atom

The first thing that you might have noticed is that the layout has gone from a arguably garish gray to a much cleaner scheme. I’ve mentioned hundreds of times before that content is king when it comes to writing for a blog, and this new layout does a much better job of bringing out the text. Not to mention it is a lot easier on the eyes.

The next important change to the layout is that I’ve gone from a two-column to a three-column scheme. Old How To had a lot of cruft built into its side-bar after a time. This change should reduce the amount of scrolling you need to do to get to the good stuff.

Comments

Comments have been completely changed. Instead of vanilla comments, like I usually use, I have decided to try out SezWho. I first discovered SezWho from ReadWriteWeb and I have been taking some time to see how it has worked out over there before making the switch. Thus far, I really like it.

For those who don’t know, SezWho is a comment recommendation engine. It lets you rate commentators, track them across blogs and filter comments by their ratings. If you want to test it out, leave a comment here.

Everything Else

As always, my work is licensed under a Creative Commons, Non-Commerical Share-Alike. That means that you are free to use it for anything you like as long as you don’t try to re-package it and sell it. Web 2.0 Roundup

I am really interested in hearing from you. Not only about your opinions on the redesign, but also on any business, projects or ideas that you may be throwing around. If you have anything on your plate that you want to promote, my mail box is always open.

Now back to your regularly scheduled blogging. Thanks for your patience.
