Honestly I love pretty much everything brings money. Do I earn any money if I split an atom? cause if I do I'm gonna learn how immediately. But for now I chose to work with Trianz since this is the best offer I've ever received so far and I'm sure nobody would quit its job if it would bring the income Trianz brought to me in all these years.

Nice story!
And your right, scientific method is really useful, not just for business. In real life, we can also use this method everyday, like when deciding where to buy lunch or whether to go to a party or not.

You are missing an important stage of the scientific method namely, the predictive power of your theory. After experimental results have verified that it agrees with your initial hypothesis, if you can take that idea and predict something else as a direct result of your hypothesis, that is shown to be true, then this is the power behind the scientific method.

I completely agree. Having a process can substantially improve results when the person behind that process understands what they are doing. Even more importantly, taking the time to map out a process can expose the holes in your reasoning that are costing you time and effectiveness.

I agree in the need to be adaptable. I think if you follow any path too rigidly you lose something in the bargain, and the scientific method is no exception. The world is filled with times when you lack anything resembling information, and you need to be able to react to those situations effectively.

That being said, the secret is in finding the middle ground. Take whatever system you decide to use and follow it until you hit a wall that the system is incapable of surmounting, and then adapt.

I would much rather you -try- to collect some information, than you choose to make it all up as you go along. Even if you fail, you can still fall back on making it up. It's really hard to go in the opposite direction.

I doubt very much that the scientific method is the be all end all in this, it's just a solid and time-tested illustration of an effective way of solving problems. The real trick is that come up with the scope of your problem, understand your priorities and develop a system that -you- can work with in order to get things done.

Good response.

But I must point out if the machine is built to help the operator, but the operator can't properly use the machine, then which should be changed: the operator or the machine? After all, building a car that requires feet when you have none, seems odd. Do you build yourself feet to drive the car or do you build a car you can actually drive?

In the scientific method's current form, it is meant to be used by following strict guidelines to ensure the most amount accuracy possible. If you fail to follow the guidelines, you aren't necessarily going to benefit, especially if the conclusion is based on misinformation or a lack of information.

My point isn't to say you shouldn't have a system in place when approaching a situation or problem, just that maybe the scientific method isn't the best method for approaching real, everyday situations. I say this because it loses accuracy when not used properly, or you aren't able to test your hypothesis exhaustively due to a lack of info, time or other variable.

Just some thoughts, as I don't have another system to recommend---I do think you need a way to approach a situation, but the method you use will vary depending on your priorities and the factors you are faced with.
